In civil and industrial plants, different scale types may readily form over time in descaling water systems and moulds. Inhibiting water flow and acting as an extremely effective insulator, scale reduces the efficiency of heat transfer while raising operating expenses and downtime. Pumps mounted on scale breaker tanks are made especially for chemical cleaning and descaling heating plants, heat exchangers, and cooling systems.
The deposits are chemically removed by flushing with suitable acid solutions, restoring system operation to normal levels. There are no metal pieces in touch with the chemical liquids being pumped.
In medium-sized or large industrial systems (heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems, boilers, evaporators, cooling circuits, presses, moulding machines, etc.), PP and PVDF medium and large descaling pumps are designed to remove scale, sediment, and obstructions of various types (metal oxides, rust, sludge, algae, limescale, etc.). Over time, these residues accumulate, obstructing channels and reducing the heat exchange and flow rate of the machinery. Any scale accumulation is removed, and the circuits are cleared by numatic PP and PVDF pumps.
Descaling pumps are specialized industrial pumps used to circulate descaling chemicals or cleaning solutions through pipes, heat exchangers, boilers, cooling systems, tanks, and other equipment to remove scale, rust, mineral deposits, and corrosion buildup.
They are commonly used with acidic descaling solutions such as hydrochloric acid, sulfamic acid, phosphoric acid, or other chemical cleaning agents, depending on the application.
In simple terms: A descaling pump circulates a chemical cleaning solution through equipment to dissolve and flush out scale and deposits, helping restore flow and heat-transfer efficiency.
Descaling pumps are used in industries and maintenance applications where scale, rust, mineral deposits, or chemical buildup needs to be removed from equipment and pipelines using a circulating cleaning solution.
Common applications include:
* Heat Exchangers: Removes calcium, lime, rust, and mineral deposits to improve heat-transfer efficiency.
* Boilers: Helps remove hard-water scale and deposits from boiler tubes and internal passages.
* Chillers & HVAC Systems: Used for cleaning condenser and evaporator circuits.
* Cooling Towers & Cooling Lines: Circulates descaling chemicals through water-circulation systems.
* Industrial Pipelines: Removes scale and deposits from process and utility pipelines.
* RO & Water Treatment Plants: Used for chemical cleaning of membranes, housings, and associated piping.
* Condensers: Helps clean deposits that reduce cooling efficiency.
* Chemical Processing Equipment: Used for cleaning tanks, vessels, reactors, and process lines.
* CIP (Clean-in-Place) Systems: Circulates cleaning chemicals without dismantling equipment.
* Industrial Machinery & Fabrication Equipment: Used for periodic maintenance and removal of stubborn deposits.
Typical industries: Chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, textile, power generation, water treatment, HVAC, dairy, and general manufacturing.
Savino Barbera PFTs can be used to chemically clean cooling towers, boilers, condensers, heating systems, radiators, moulding equipment, circuits, and coils.
A descaling pump is used to circulate chemical cleaning solutions that help eliminate or loosen various deposits from pipes, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, and other equipment.
It can help eliminate:
* Lime scale & calcium deposits
* Mineral deposits
* Rust and oxidation deposits
* Hard-water scale
* Calcium carbonate buildup
* Magnesium deposits
* Sludge and accumulated dirt
* Corrosion-related deposits
* Iron oxide deposits
* Process residue and fouling
Benefits:
Regular descaling can help restore water flow, improve heat-transfer efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and extend equipment service life.
Note: The actual deposits that can be removed depend on the descaling chemical, concentration, temperature, and pump/material compatibility.
